Akash Prakash – Portfolio Manager
Akash Prakash is a Director and the Chief Executive Officer of Amansa Capital Pte. Ltd. With extensive experience in the India securities markets, Akash leads the investment team and directs the process when determining the investment ideas for inclusion in the portfolio. He also manages the overall market risk and acts as the Chief Investment Officer for Amansa Funds’ investment portfolio.
Prior to founding Amansa Capital in 2006, Akash was Director of Investments, India for Temasek Holdings – the investment vehicle of the Government of Singapore. During this time, Akash was responsible for coordinating all of Temasek’s public market and private equity investments in India. Before joining Temasek, Akash spent 6 years as a Portfolio Manager for GIC – The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation – where he managed US, Pan-Asian and Indian investment portfolios. Akash also spent 6 years in the 1990s with Morgan Stanley Asset Management where he was an Executive Director and Portfolio Manager of the Morgan Stanley Growth Fund. He also had responsibility over the India Investment Fund. MSAM was one of India’s largest foreign investors during this period.
Akash has an MBA from IIM in Ahmedabad, India and a Bachelor of Commerce from Bombay University. In 1999, he was ranked among the top 20 Fund Managers in Asia by Asia Money. In 2004, he was ranked amongst the top 3 by Indian corporates in Institutional Investor’s “Best of Buy-Side” survey. He writes a fortnightly column for The Business Standard – one of India’s leading financial newspapers.
Akash founded Amansa in August 2006.
Narender Nagpal – Deputy Portfolio Manager
Narender is the Co-Founder and Partner of Amansa Capital. He is also the Deputy Portfolio Manager of the Fund.
Narender has been involved in Indian equity markets since 1992, which was the time the Indian markets opened up for foreign investors. He began his career with ANZ Grindlays in 1992, where he was a part of the investment team that managed money for private clients. He then moved to the sell side and worked for close to a decade and half with firms such as BZW, W I Carr and Deutsche Bank. In 1996, he assumed the role of Head of Research at BZW, which was the investment bank division of Barclays Bank. Later, he held dual responsibility of Head of Research and Head of Equities at W I Carr and Deutsche Bank between 2000 and 2006.
As an analyst, he was responsible for coverage of a wide range of sectors and market strategy. He was ranked amongst India’s top analysts in internal ratings of several global investors and also in external polls conducted by reputed agencies like Asiamoney and Institutional Investor.
His final role on the sell side was at Deutsche Bank, where as Managing Director and Head of Equities, he established and built the Indian equities business for the bank. During his tenure, the equities business was rated amongst the top broking operations in India within the first few years of commencement. He was a part of the Asian Equities Management Committee at Deutsche Bank. He left Deutsche Bank to start Primus Investment Advisors, which was a research advisory firm based in India.
Narender is a Chartered Accountant from India, which he cleared with a top 25 merit rank. He also holds the degree of Cost and Management Accountant.
Ambrish Sukhani – Senior Investment Analyst
Ambrish Sukhani is a Senior Investment Analyst at Amansa Capital. He is a key member of the investment team. He is actively involved in the investment process, research and analysis of companies. He conducts extensive due diligence and financial modeling on companies across various industries within Amansa’s investment mandate.
Prior to joining Amansa, Ambrish was a Director at Temasek Holdings Advisors India Pvt Ltd, based in Mumbai.
Ambrish is a CFA charter holder and graduated with an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India in 2001.
Ambrish joined Amansa in April 2008.
Mihir Shah – Investment Analyst
Mihir Shah is an Investment Analyst at Amansa Capital. He researches investment ideas across a range of sectors. He is responsible for carrying out deep bottom-up research, interacting with management teams and various market participants, preparing detailed financial models and forecasts, and monitoring investments on an ongoing basis.
Prior to joining Amansa Capital, Mihir was a Vice President with India Capital.
Mihir has an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was named a Siebel Scholar. He also holds a Master’s degree in computer science from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in computer technology from VJTI. He is a CFA charter holder.
Mihir joined Amansa in September 2014.
